5 Simple Ways to Spread Positivity

As I mentioned in a previous post, I really want to start posting more about positvity on my blog. I write about it quite a lot but now I have added a category dedicated to it, which you can find here. So, this post is about five small ways to spread positvity. You don't always need a grand gesture or to spend loads of money to make someone happy. Some of the most simple and/or inexpensive ways can mean so much to somebody. You can put these into practice everyday and they will become subconscious ways to spread positivity. Also, this most may inspire you to notice and be thankful when someone does something positive for you.

The first tip is probably the most simple way to make a positive impact on someone. Have you ever been in a bad mood or felt annoyed for some reason when you're out and about, but when someone smiles at you, it instantly lifts your mood? Smiling is contagious and releases endorphins, which make the brain feel relaxed and happy. Try and smile as much as you can, to your loved ones and people you walk past when you're out the house. A smile costs nothing, but can mean so much.

Whether it's in real life or on social media, a small but meaningful compliment can make someone's day. If  you think someone looks amazing, tell them! If someone has cooked something yummy, tell them how much you liked it. If someone offers you fantastic service in a shop, restaurant or wherever they work, let them know how great they were. Someone could be having the worst day or the worst shift at work, but just one small compliment can get them through their day and make it better.

Basic manners

Another super simple way of spreading positivity is by practising basic manners. Things such as saying please & thank you, holding the door open and letting someone with a heavy amount of shopping go before you in the queue, are some examples of being kind. Everyone should practice basic manners and be respectful. Share them as if it's second nature.

Offering someone a hot drink

Whether you're at home or out with your family, friends or loved ones, everyone loves a nice warm drink and a good chat. Offer someone a cup of tea or coffee when you're at home, or treat them when you're out shopping etc. Suggest meeting up with someone you haven't seen in a while. If it's freezing cold and you see someone homeless on the street, ask them if they would like a hot drink from the nearest coffee shop. There are so many ways that a warm cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate can bring people together and do something positive.

Congratulating people on their achievements

We need to build each other up instead of tearing each other down. If you know someone that has achieved something amazing, congratulate them. It can be something huge like expecting a baby, buying a new home, or passing their exams. It can also be a smaller, more personal achievement, but you know how much it meant to them. Support people and be grateful for those who support you as well.

Can you think of any free or simple ways to spread positivity?
